It is mandatory to renew your address at the city office or ward office. When renewing, a new address must be written on your residence card.
When you change the address, it is necessary to provide or inform them a new address wherever you have registered before.
If you change your address, you must submit “Change of Address Notice[転居届]" to the post office. The new address must be informed to the company of Wi-Fi, water, gas, electricity etc.

After registration of new address at the ward office or city office, get this (Change of Address Notice) card from the post office.
Then, fill the card like below and submit it at the post office.
